David Loucky, trombone and ophicleide, has been professor of trombone at Middle Tennessee State University since 1989. He has performed and lectured at several International Trombone Festivals and International Tuba-Euphonium Conferences and is an active performer with the Nashville Symphony, the New Hampshire Music Festival, and, for two seasons, as Assistant Principal Trombonist with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.

 
Dave received the Doctorate of Musical Arts from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, with additional studies in Cologne, Germany, and Vienna , Austria in both classical and jazz traditions. He engages in research on the ophicleide and collaborates with composers who are interested in writing new works for the instrument.
